Poker

Poker is a card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The objective is to win the pot, which contains all the money wagered by players in a hand. You can win the pot either by having the best hand at the showdown or by being the last player remaining after all others have folded.

Hand Rankings (from highest to lowest)

  • Royal Flush: A, K, Q, J, 10, all of the same suit.

  • Straight Flush: Five cards in sequence, all of the same suit.

  • Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank.

  • Full House: Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.

  • Flush: Five cards of the same suit, not in sequence.

  • Straight: Five cards in sequence, not all of the same suit.

  • Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank.

  • Two Pair: Two cards of one rank and two cards of another rank.

  • One Pair: Two cards of the same rank.

  • High Card: The highest card in your hand if you have none of the above.

Basic Rules

  1. Ante, Small and Big Blind: Before the cards are dealt, players must post forced bets.

    • Ante: In some poker variations, every player at the table must contribute a small, predetermined amount to the pot before the hand begins. This is called an ante.

    • Blinds: The two players to the left of the dealer button must post "blind" bets to initiate the betting. The player immediately to the left of the dealer posts the Small Blind, and the next player posts the Big Blind. The Big Blind is typically double the amount of the Small Blind.

  2. The Deal: Each player is dealt two private cards (hole cards).

  3. Betting Rounds: There are four betting rounds:

    • Pre-flop: After the hole cards are dealt, the first betting round begins with the player to the left of the Big Blind.

    • The Flop: Three community cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table. A second betting round begins with the first active player to the left of the dealer button.

    • The Turn: A fourth community card is dealt. A third betting round begins.

    • The River: A fifth and final community card is dealt. The last betting round begins.

  4. Player Actions: During each betting round, players can choose to:

    • Fold: Give up their hand and forfeit any money they have already put in the pot.

    • Call: Match the current bet.

    • Raise: Increase the current bet.

    • Check: If there has been no bet, a player can choose to not bet and pass the action to the next player. This is only an option for the first person to act in a betting round or if no one has bet yet.

  5. Showdown: If more than one player remains after the final betting round, the players reveal their cards. The player with the best hand wins the pot.

Rake

When you buy in to a game, we take a 10 percent rake. This means the rake fee is calculated as the buy-in amount multiplied by 0.1. This money is taken from your buy-in before you receive your chips.

Side Pots

Side pots are created when a player goes all-in, but there are still other players with chips who continue to bet. The all-in player can only win the amount of money in the main pot, which is the sum of all bets up to and including their all-in bet. Any further bets from the remaining players go into a separate "side pot," which only those players are eligible to win. There can be multiple side pots if more than one player goes all-in at different times.
