Game Rules

  • Objective: bet on which side, Andar or Bahar, will get the first card that matches the Joker. Andar means "inside" and Bahar means "outside" in Hindi.
  • The deck: every round is dealt from a standard 52-card deck that is shuffled before each round.
  • The Joker: the dealer turns one card face up in the middle. This is the Joker. Only its rank matters, so a 7 of Spades is matched by any other 7.
  • The deal: the dealer then deals cards one at a time, alternating between the two sides, starting with Andar. The very first card matching the Joker's rank ends the round, and the side it was dealt to wins. There are always three more cards of the Joker's rank left in the deck, so a match always comes.
  • If the first card dealt matches the Joker, Andar wins straight away.
  • Placing a bet: choose Andar or Bahar, enter your bet amount and press Deal. The bet amount is the only number you type in. Gold Coins and Diamonds each have their own balance, and you can switch between them between rounds.
  • Andar pays 0.9 to 1. Because Andar is dealt first it wins a little more often, 51.5% of rounds against 48.5% for Bahar, so it pays a little less. A winning Andar bet of 10 returns 19.
  • Bahar pays 1 to 1. A winning Bahar bet of 10 returns 20.
  • House edge: 2.15% on Andar and 3.00% on Bahar.
  • Side bet, cards dealt: you can also bet on how many cards the dealer deals in total, counting the matching card. Pick one of the eight ranges below and enter a side bet amount. It is settled independently of your Andar or Bahar bet, so you can win one and lose the other.
  • Cards dealt side bet payouts: 1-5 cards pays 2.5 to 1, 6-10 pays 3.5 to 1, 11-15 pays 4.5 to 1, 16-20 pays 6.5 to 1, 21-25 pays 9.5 to 1, 26-30 pays 15 to 1, 31-35 pays 25 to 1 and 36 or more pays 35 to 1. The house edge on these ranges is between about 2% and 7%.
  • A round averages 13 cards, and the longest possible round is 49 cards.
  • There are no decisions once the cards start to fall. You bet, and the dealer deals.
  • Not offered: other side bets, and betting on both Andar and Bahar in the same round.
