Game Rules
- Objective: build a stronger five-card hand than the dealer. Niu Niu (牛牛) means 'cow cow' or 'bull bull' in Chinese, and it's also played as Bull Bull and Cowboy.
- Card values: an Ace is 1, cards 2 to 9 are worth their number, and 10, Jack, Queen and King are all worth 10.
- Making a bull: look for any three of your five cards that add up to a multiple of 10 (10, 20 or 30). Those three cards are your 'bull'. The other two cards give your hand its score: add them up and keep the last digit. That makes Bull 1 to Bull 9. If the two cards add up to a multiple of 10, the hand is Niu Niu, the best ordinary hand. If no three cards add up to a multiple of 10, the hand is No Bull. The game finds your best bull for you and rings the three bull cards in gold.
- Example: 10, 7, 3, 8, 5. The 10, 7 and 3 add to 20, a bull. The 8 and 5 add to 13, so the score is Bull 3.
- Hand ranking, highest to lowest: Five Small (five cards all under 5 that add up to 10 or less), Bomb (four cards of the same rank), Five Face Cards (all five are Jack, Queen or King), Niu Niu, Bull 9, Bull 8, Bull 7, Bull 6, Bull 5, Bull 4, Bull 3, Bull 2, Bull 1, No Bull.
- Ties: if both hands are the same type, the hand with the single highest card wins (King high down to Ace low; for a Bomb it's the rank of the four cards). If those cards match, the higher suit wins: spades, then hearts, then clubs, then diamonds. So every hand has a winner.
- Placing a bet: type the amount you want to bet in the bet box. Min 1, max 500 (and never more than a fifth of your chips). Your bet stays in the box between rounds.
- Playing a round: press Deal. You and the dealer each get five cards. Your cards land face up, the dealer's land face down and are then turned over one by one, and the result is settled.
- Payouts: the winner is paid your bet times the winning hand's multiplier. No Bull and Bull 1 to 6 pay 1×. Bull 7, 8 and 9 pay 2×. Niu Niu pays 3×. Five Small, Bomb and Five Face Cards pay 5×. There is no commission. If you lose, you lose your bet times the dealer's multiplier.
- Betting limit: because a loss can cost up to 5× your bet, your bet can be at most one fifth of your chips.
- House edge: none. You and the dealer are dealt from the same shuffled deck, every hand has a winner and there is no commission, so the game is exactly even over time.
- Each round uses a freshly shuffled 52-card deck, and the cards are decided before they are dealt. The animation only shows what was already dealt.
- This is a demo with play chips only. It is not linked to an account and resets when you refresh the page.
