Game Rules
- Objective: have a better three-card hand than the dealer's. Teen Patti means three cards in Hindi, and it is India's most popular card game. Here you play it one-on-one against the dealer.
- The deck: every hand is dealt from a standard 52-card deck that is shuffled before each round. You and the dealer each get three cards, face down.
- The boot: choose your boot amount and press Deal. The boot is your first bet, and the only bet you type in. Gold Coins and Diamonds each have their own balance, and you can switch between them between hands.
- Hand ranking, best to worst: Trail (three of a kind, three Aces is the highest), Pure Sequence (three cards in a row of one suit), Sequence (three cards in a row), Color (three cards of one suit), Pair, and High Card.
- Sequences: A-K-Q is the highest sequence, A-2-3 is the second highest, then K-Q-J down to 4-3-2, which is the lowest. K-A-2 is not a sequence. A sequence beats a Color because it is harder to get. Suits never break a tie.
- Blind and seen: you start out blind, with your cards face down. Looking at your cards is free, and makes you seen. Looking costs you nothing now, but the price of staying in doubles once you have looked.
- Playing blind: if you don't look, your only moves are Look or Chaal. A blind Chaal costs 1x your boot. You can't raise or pack without looking.
- Playing seen: after you look you can Chaal for 2x your boot, Raise for 4x your boot, or Pack. Packing means folding: you lose your boot, and the dealer's cards stay hidden.
- The dealer packs: the dealer plays on with K-7-2 or better, which is about 55% of hands. If the dealer holds anything worse, the dealer packs. Your boot wins 1:1, and your Chaal or Raise is returned to you.
- The showdown: if the dealer plays on, both hands are turned over and the better hand wins. Your boot and your Chaal or Raise both pay 1:1. If you lose, you lose both bets.
- Ties go to the dealer. If your hand and the dealer's hand are exactly equal, you lose.
- The bonus: a Trail pays 5:1 and a Pure Sequence pays 3:1 on your boot. The bonus is paid whatever the dealer holds, even if you lose the hand or the dealer packs, as long as you did not pack.
- Example: with a boot of 10, you look and Chaal for 20. If you win you get 60 back (30 profit). If the dealer wins you lose 30. If you Raise for 40 and lose, you lose 50. If the dealer packs, you win 10 and get your 20 back.
- The house edge is about 2.8% of your boot if you look every time and make the best move, and about 3.8% if you play blind every time. Neither way is a clear winner, so looking mostly buys you the choice to pack.
- Not offered: side bets, insurance and surrender. You cannot raise a second time.
- Learning mode: turn it on to see the exact odds for every move, or open the Teen Patti course in the Learning Center for lessons and a practice table with a coach.
